West Coast Swing (WCS) is a beautiful and fun partner dance style well-suited for modern music. It offers a welcoming atmosphere where we embrace a consciously degendered approach to roles, featuring “leader” and “follower” instead of traditional gendered roles. It’s becoming increasingly common for participants to learn both roles early on, enriching their dance experience.

Focus on Connection

WCS is centered on connection: the physical link between partners created by a balance of tension and compression. This connection allows the dance to feel grounded, responsive, and fluid, making it enjoyable for everyone, regardless of experience level.

Practical Information

• No need to bring a dance partner: we will rotate partners and even switch roles.
• As this is a hands-on dance workshop, be prepared for light physical contact, such as touching other participants’ hands and possibly shoulders.

Party

We're doing a WCS social right after the workshop, so feel free to stay and have even more fun dancing with others!
